Read: 1 Corinthians 12:12-27
Key verse: “Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.” (1 Cor 12:27, NKJV)
In Corinth there was rivalry, partly over gifts: who has the important one, who counts? Paul answers with a body. One body, many parts. Unity does not mean everyone is the same. A body that is only an eye is not a body (verse 17). Every part is needed, especially the parts that seem weaker (verse 22).
God put the body together so that there is no split and the members care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer with it (verses 25-26). Together you are the body of Christ.
Reflect: Who in your church or surroundings gets too little appreciation from you?
Prayer: Lord, teach me to see what the other adds instead of what he lacks. Amen.
