Unity is a gift

Read: Psalm 133

Key verse: “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” (Ps 133:1, NKJV)

Pilgrims walk up to Jerusalem, and on the way they sing about brothers living together. The song gives two pictures. Precious oil runs down Aaron’s head to the edge of his robe. The dew of Hermon falls on the mountains of Zion. Oil and dew both come from above; nobody pumps them upward.

Unity is like that. We can work at it, but it stays a gift. At the end the psalm says where the LORD commanded the blessing: where brothers are together, life forevermore. That blessing has nothing to do with money or success. It is the life together itself.

Reflect: Whom could you speak to first this week?

Prayer: Lord, You see the people I avoid. Give me the courage to take the first step. Amen.
